Wander list: Tuckernuck’s DC Flagship

For those who prefer destination shopping to attending a(nother) destination wedding, the beloved American label Tuckernuck has reopened its flagship in Georgetown, D.C., this time in a (much!) larger, beautifully considered space on Wisconsin Avenue.

Designed by acclaimed interior designer Cece Barfield – former senior designer to Bunny Williams – the store reflects the brand’s polished, all-American sensibility and distinctive point of view, while signaling Georgetown’s new era of experiential retail.

This marks Cece Barfield’s third project with Tuckernuck, following the brand’s D.C. offices and Madison Avenue storefront.

“The Madison Ave store has a more urban feel that reflects its setting, while the Georgetown location takes cues from the neighborhood’s classic architecture and historic charm,” says Cece of the store’s distinct identities.

Guests enter through a foyer designed to feel like a classic Georgetown home, complete with hand-painted chinoiserie wallpaper by de Gournay. Stroller parking tucked into the entry offers a thoughtful nod to the brand’s stylish community of mothers.

Toward the back, a sunny scullery doubles as a gifting hub with easy hostess presents and in-store personalization.

The conservatory highlights seasonal and event-ready looks beneath trellis detailing inspired by one of Tuckernuck’s founders’ dining rooms.

Upstairs, the boudoir focuses on wardrobe staples like denim and cashmere alongside the brand’s home collection, while dressing rooms feature a hidden “secret closet” that allows stylists to curate looks seamlessly.

A private styling lounge rounds out the space with one-on-one appointments and a custom print created especially for the Washington, D.C. location.
