Inside Ariel Okin’s Second Collection with Chasing Paper

It’s here! The second collaboration between Ariel Okin and Chasing Paper. Rooted in Ariel’s signature aesthetic — classic, colorful, and considered — the collection of wallpapers invites charm and character into homes that are meant to be loved, layered, and lived in.

To celebrate the launch, we sat down with Ariel and Chasing Paper founder Elizabeth Rees to discuss inspiration, print mixing, and the stories behind the designs.

What was the starting point for the collaboration – a mood, a destination, a space?

Ariel: I really wanted my second collection with Chasing Paper to reflect how AOI has evolved over the last five+ years, and to evoke the feel of some of our projects in the process. I was inspired by antique French textiles that I found by scouring museum and college archives, and built it into a cohesive story and color palette from there.

Elizabeth: We were so thrilled to be working with Ariel again—her brand and personal style has continued to evolve and her signature style solidified, so we knew this second wave of wallpaper patterns would excite and delight our customers.

Where do you think these wallpapers live best—powder rooms, bedrooms, something more unexpected?

Ariel: I love papering ceilings—it adds such a beautiful layer and statement to a room. But the sky is really the limit with where you can infuse wallpaper in a space.

Elizabeth: Wallpaper belongs everywhere. It’s such a powerful way to personalize even the smallest spaces.

How would you style a space around your favorite print from the collection?

Ariel: We’re using the Annie Floral and Sophie Stripe in a very exciting space at The Mayflower Inn & Spa launching this June—we can’t wait to share it.

Elizabeth: I used the Sophie Stripe in a bathroom at our lake house with crisp white finishes to really let the wallpaper shine.

What’s your take on mixing patterns—any rules you swear by (or love to break)?

Ariel: I’m all about the mix—it’s what makes a space feel collected and personal. I don’t believe in rules, except that scale matters and you should respect the bones of the architecture. Everything else is fair game.

Elizabeth: Start small—pillows, tabletop—and train your eye. It becomes much less intimidating over time.

What’s something people would be surprised to learn about creating wallpaper?

Ariel: The number of strike-offs it takes to get the colors right—it can take months.

Elizabeth: Wallpaper is inherently nostalgic—it becomes the backdrop to life’s moments.

The shopping palette

Inspired by the collection, we’ve pulled together a shopping palette that reflects the same sense of pattern play and lived-in elegance with pieces designed to layer seamlessly into your lifestyle.
